Leeds Bradford Airport Expansion Project Progresses in 2025

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is making significant strides in its ambitious £100 million regeneration project, known as LBA: REGEN. As of February 2025, the expansion is well underway, with completion of the entire project expected by winter 2026.

Phase 1 Nears Completion

The first phase of the expansion, which includes the construction of a 9,500m² three-storey terminal extension, is on track to be completed by summer 2025. This new extension will provide:

Phase 2 Contract Awarded

In a recent development, LBA has awarded the contract for Phase 2 of the regeneration project to Farrans Construction. This phase involves a full refurbishment of the existing terminal and is scheduled for completion in winter 2026.

• Creation of new staircases, lifts, and escalators
• An open-plan design complementing the new terminal extension
• Remodeled internal spaces for improved passenger movement
• Brand new security and arrivals facilities
• New World Duty Free area, shops, bars, and restaurants

The LBA: REGEN project is expected to have a significant positive impact on the local economy:

• By 2025, LBA anticipates injecting approximately £460 million into the local economy
• Direct employment is expected to reach 2,100 individuals
• An additional 4,500 jobs will be indirectly supported
• By 2030, the project has the potential to create 1,500 new direct jobs and 4,000 new indirect jobs
